Campaign to reduce Cigarette Butt Litter
After the state banned indoor smoking in Jan. 2008 the committee initiated an awareness campaign about the impact of inproperly disposed cigarette butts on our environment. It also collaborated with businesses on Main Street downtown by providing outdoor cigarette butt containers, and created a bumper sticker: Butts = Litter, Off our streets! Out of our river!
This photo was taken at the former O'Brien Field in 2008 during the 7th inning stretch after the Pride Pals ran the bases to capture an out of control Ciggie the Butt.
